So Monsterhearts is this really fun hack of Apocalypse World that lets you play as sexy teenage monsters. It’s one of those rare things that is better in practice than in theory, mainly because it was pitched as Twilight: The RPG. But anyway, the game’s all about the rigors of growing up and dealing with our own changing bodies as well as everyone else—adults who constantly think the worst about you, and your fellow teens who are just as confused and scared as you are.
The Playbooks in this hack are called Skins, and are the sorts of archetypal Things That Go Bump In The Night (for the most part) that represent different aspects of adolescence. The Werewolf is you getting really hormonal and pissy. The Chosen is all about you wanting to prove that you’re a Grown Up and that you can do Grown Up Things.
